Description
Studs and cuff links were staple accessories for fashionable men of the nineteenth century. According to luxury leathergoods merchant Ettinger, “Traditionally gifted to young men on their 21st birthday, stud boxes are certainly very British”.
A different kind of stud surged in popularity at the height of the ’70s punk rock era, sprouting from collars, leather jackets and body modifications. Punk itself inspired queercore, a cultural and social movement that started in the mid-80s. The musical genre channels both punk and industrial music and is lyrically issues-based, exploring prejudice, sexual identity, human rights and social critique.
